Who Framed Roger Rabbit Review

Synopsis: In this blog or video Review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988. I will point out the emotional baggage that Eddie Valiant suffers and how he becomes a sourpuss as Roger Rabbit will point out in this movie. I make comparisons to movies that were in color and not. Hello everyone, Matthew Hemenway is here. In this video, I will be doing a review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I first remember seeing this movie as a kid. I now see it from a new perspective as an adult. The movie starts off with Roger and Baby Herman in “Something’s Cooking.” The cartoon said in color. The movie takes place in 1947 and at that time it was important to say the least as color was not common back then. Whether it was a cartoon or a movie, it was exceedingly rare that it was in color. I think of the movie Adventures in Robin Hood, the movie was done in the 1930s. Casablanca that would have come out in the 1940s was done in Black and White not in color. Gone with the Wind which was done in the 1930s was done in color, which was rare. The director gets upset with Roger because he cannot remember his lines. Eddie Valiant sees him and says “Toons.” Later Eddie meets R.K. Maroon, and he wants him to take pictures of Roger Rabbit’s wife Jessica Rabbit said they say that she was cheating on her husband, it is one of those things it is not what it seems.

I think Eddie Valiant has issues. When he sees Roger walking off with the Director he says, ‘Toons” while drinking Whiskey. A whiskey bottle has a distinct look. What I realize is that it makes sense, Eddie suffered a breakup with his girlfriend and lost his brother. His brother was murdered by a toon and makes him bitter toward toons. He hates that a toon killed his brother. This case helping to prove Roger’s innocence will help him deal with the demons he has been burying by drinking Alcohol. Eddie and his brother spent a lot of time in Toon Town, and they had a blast. It was in Toon Town where he lost his brother. His brother was killed by a Piano being dropped on his head.

What I see with Eddie Valiant is that there is an author I read years ago and runs Ransomed Heart ministries. His name is John Eldredge, and he authored several books called Wild at Heart, Epic, and Fathered by God. He talks about the wound, and he discusses how even as young as 5 years old a person at 50 years old can be still carrying that wound that they had been inflicted upon that individual. I am not talking about a physical wound but a spiritual wound. When Eddie Valiant lost his brother Teddy, it ended up influencing other areas of his life. It hurt his marriage and made him miserable in why he turned to Alcohol because he was using alcohol as a coping mechanism to deal with pain. It was easier to turn to the Alcohol then deal with his problems. He lets his temper get the best of him and does not always think very clearly. Chances are his temper came from the pain he was dealing with as losing brother to a murder. He had carried this pain for years and he eventually must confront it to move beyond the pain he was feeling.

There are a lot of twists and turns as you do not know who the killer is till the end of the story. You think it is R.K. Maroon, because he hired Eddie Valiant to take pictures of Marvin Acme so he could extort him. You find out it is not him but someone else. You will be surprised at who it is.

Disney needs to consider making a movie or TV series of the Valiant Brothers Adventures in Toon Town. They could show us how many cases they were working on till Teddy Valiant gets killed by a piano being dropped on his head. To me this sounds like a winner to me.

This is not in the video; we all carry pain. The pain of my accident and how it stays with me no matter what anyone tells you. We must learn to live with that pain. It is not easy, but it is necessary if one is to grow. The memory will never leave you and it should not; if it did, it would be bad. We must learn to use it to help others and ourselves to grow. It can be used for good, if we allow it to do so. That is easier said than done, but it can be done if we allow it to be.

This is not in the video. The accident that I suffered was when I was driving trying to make a left turn at a light that is unprotected. This means this light has no arrow and no delayed green. Even today, that is the case. I would like to see it have a protective arrow or delayed green, but it does not. I carried that guilt and Eddie Valiant carried it and the pain of what happened to his brother. He is angry but it is possible he is suffering from survivor’s guilt. It is real because at times, when I had friends or others die in a motor vehicle accident, you question why you survived? You ask why that person had to die and you did not. It makes sense to you, and you live your life like that. This is a theory with the movie, but I can prove it with my own life experience.
